Devices & Device Management
MediMic tracks the devices used to access the platform so that providers have visibility into where their account is active, and so that organizations can audit device usage for compliance purposes.
What Is a Device?
A device in MediMic is any smartphone, tablet, or computer that has been used to create or join a session. Each device gets a unique identifier stored in its secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore).
Device records include:
- Device model (e.g., iPhone 15 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S24)
- Platform and OS version (e.g., iOS 17.4, Android 14)
- App version installed
- Push notification token (for session alerts)
- First seen and last seen dates
- Account association (provider account or guest)
Registering a Device
Devices are registered automatically the first time a session is created on that device. You don't need to manually register.
If you reinstall the app on a device that was previously registered, MediMic will recognize the device by recovering the stored device ID from the OS secure store. This means:
- Your session history is linked back to your device.
- Guest usage quotas are preserved and not reset by reinstalling.
- Push notification tokens are updated automatically.
Viewing Your Devices
In the Mobile App
Go to Profile → My Devices to see all devices registered to your account.
In the Provider Portal
- Sign in at
portal.medimic.ai. - Navigate to Account Settings → Connected Devices.
For each device you'll see: | Field | Value | |---|---| | Device name | Model and platform (e.g., "iPhone 15 Pro · iOS 17.4") | | App version | Installed MediMic version | | Last active | Date/time last seen | | Status | Active / Inactive |
Revoking a Device
If a device is lost, stolen, or decommissioned:
- Go to Account Settings → Connected Devices.
- Find the device and click Revoke.
- Confirm the revocation.
Revoking a device:
- Invalidates any active session tokens from that device.
- Removes the device from push notification routing.
- Prevents the device from creating new sessions under your account without re-authenticating.
Revoking a device does not delete session transcripts from existing sessions — those remain in the portal's encrypted history.
Organization Device Management
Organization Admins can view all devices registered by org members from the Organization → Devices tab.
This view shows:
- Which provider each device belongs to
- Device hardware info and OS version
- Session count from each device
- Last active date
This is useful for ensuring all clinic devices are running up-to-date app versions and identifying inactive or unauthorized devices.
Device Limits
| Plan | Device Limit |
|---|---|
| Free Trial / Guest | 1 device per guest account |
| Individual | 3 devices |
| Team | 5 devices per provider |
| Enterprise | Unlimited |
If you reach your device limit and need to add a new device, revoke an inactive device first from Account Settings → Connected Devices.
Shared Clinic Devices
In many clinic settings, a single tablet or phone is shared between multiple providers. MediMic handles this cleanly:
- Each session is created by a specific provider account, regardless of which physical device is used.
- The device registers once and is associated with the provider who first used it.
- Multiple providers can use the same device — each creates sessions under their own account.
For organizations with dedicated shared devices (e.g., a tablet in each exam room), the Enterprise plan includes device pooling so that shared devices are managed at the org level rather than per-provider.
Push Notifications
MediMic uses push notifications to alert providers when:
- A patient joins a Two-Device session
- A session invite is accepted
- A session token is about to expire
Push notifications are handled via the device's platform notification service (APNs for iOS, FCM for Android). MediMic never sends clinical content in push notifications — only metadata alerts (e.g., "Participant joined your session").
To manage notifications, go to Profile → Notifications in the app, or your device's system Settings → Notifications → MediMic.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will reinstalling the app reset my device ID? No. The device ID is stored in iOS Keychain or Android Keystore, which persists across app reinstalls. Your usage history and device registration are preserved.
I got a new phone. Will my session history transfer? Session history is tied to your Provider account, not your device. Sign in to your account on the new device to access all historical sessions. The new device will be registered automatically on first use.
I see a device I don't recognize in my Connected Devices list. This may be a device someone else in your organization used, or an old device you've since replaced. Review the last-active date and model. If it looks suspicious, revoke it immediately and change your account password.
